Product Overview

CavernaTM PP
New Potential Through Porosity
The first in the line of unique Caverna build materials from Infinite, Caverna PP (a polypropylene filament) has a water-soluble phase that dissolves to create a co-continuous microporous morphology. After dissolution, the resulting material is soft and porous, and provides incredible moisture vapor transmission
Caverna PP's highly uniform pore size (1-4µ) and distribution provide outstanding print fidelity. By offering the ability to create parts that have an ultrafine, highly controlled network of tiny pores, Caverna PP makes new applications possible - some apparent, and others to be discovered.
Solubility
After dissolution, Caverna PP loses 45% of its mass, leaving behind a light material that's soft and flexible. The soluble components of Caverna PP will dissolve in standard tap water at temperatures of 60-80°C. Leave the printed part fully submerged for at least one day, changing the water every four hours or so. Caverna filaments are compatible with AquaSys supports, and their water-soluble phase is removed using the same conditions.

Featured Applications
Porous Tooling
Save time drilling holes and enable more even distribution in vacuum-formed parts
Analytical Chemistry
Open new doors in separation, extraction, and microfluidics with uniform, tunable designs
Advanced Filtration
Facilitate distributive production of highly effective 3D printed air and water filters
Shelf Life
Caverna PP has a manufacturer's warranty of one year when properly stored. To extend your filament's shelf life well beyond the one-year warranty period, use these storage techniques:
- Always store Caverna in the resealable metalized bag it arrives in
- Don't throw away the desiccant provided in the resealable bag
- If the desiccant is exposed to moisture, replace it
- Place additional desiccants in the resealable bag if possible
Typical Printing Conditions
- Extruder temperature: 190-240°C
- Build plate temperature: 95-125°C
- Chamber temperature: 20-50°C
