Nexa Vs Carbon3D

Nexa3D NXE400

Nexa3D NXE 400

An extremely large build volume combined with ultra-fast Lubricant Sublayer Photo-curing (LSPc) technology makes the NXE400 one of the world's fastest 3D printers at up to 60cm on the Z-axis per hour.

Carbon3D M2

Carbon3D M2

A wide range of materials and Continuous Liquid Interface Production™ (CLIP™) technology deliver great looking parts fast at rates of up to 20cm on the Z-axis per hour.

Technologies

Nexa3d LSPc Technology Diagram

NEXA3D LSPc

Lubricant Sublayer Photo-curing (LSPc) technology utilizes a powerful light array which is masked to accurately control the position of light shining through. Finally, a proprietary LSPc membrane, which creates a no-stick zone between the cured part and vat and allows resin to flow quickly beneath the part.

Carbon3D CLIP Technology

Carbon CLIP™

Continuous Liquid Interface Production™ (CLIP™) technology utilizes an oxygen permeable layer to create a "deadzone" at the bottom of the resin vat, enabling continuous printing without having to separate and reposition in between layers.

Materials

Thanks to a partnership with DSM and multi-billion dollar chemical corporation, Henkel, makers of Loctite, the Nexa material portfolio is quickly expanding. Current resins include ABS alternatives, prototyping, transluecent, bio-compatible materials, and more.

Carbon offers a variety of materials for engineering and dental applications. Their "Programmable Liquid Resins" are significantly more complex with one and two part options. The company claims materials gain properties through heat activation but this is nothing unique, almost all photocurable resins must undergo UV and heat treatment.

Total Cost of Ownership

The Carbon M2 can only be acquired via a subscription model. At $50,000/yr and a minimum of 3 year term plus required "Accessory Pack" at $12,500, the Carbon M2 can be acquired for a minimum of $162,500. Want installation and training? Add another $10,000. And finally, printed parts need to be washed. If you opt-in for the Carbon Part Washer, add another $10,000/yr.

At around half the total cost of the M2, the NXE400's startup cost to purchase only marginally exceeds the year one startup cost of the Carbon M2 subscription. Dynamism also offers three year, zero interest financing on the Nexa, making the hardware accessible for companies of all sizes.
